M.M. Edwards

Artist Statement

My name is Marcia, and lets get this straight right out of the gate, it's pronounced MAR-cee-ah. I also answer to Marcy if three syllable names just aren't your thing. M.M.Edwards is the name I use professionally. I am an oil painter. I've been drawing and painting for several hundred years, though it is difficult to chronicle since I'm usually in a time space warp when involved in a painting or drawing. I love my work and am very passionate about detail, colors, buildings, places, people, and animals. I specialize in realistic imagery of people, places, animals, and anything that ignites my curiosity and compels me to dive into an image for untold amounts of time.

I was born in Tennessee, lived in Maryland, California, Germany, New Mexico, and Colorado. I've traveled extensively in Europe which has afforded me the opportunity to see much of the world’s great art up close and personal. I worked as an illustrator for the United States Air Force in Europe at the headquarters in Ramstein Air Base in Germany, and as an illustrator for the Warrior Preparation Center in Einiedlerhof, Germany. I've also worked as a computer animator for an educational software company back in the States before devoting all my creative energies towards fine art back in 1992.

Since moving to Colorado in 1998, I've continued painting and have been active in the Palmer Lake Art Group.

Quote by C.S.Lewis:
"Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth ... you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it."
